To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what plans he has to establish single local Learning and Skills Councils for Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes; and if he will make a statement. [98035]

§ Mr. Wicks
On 28 October 1999,Official Report, column 1079, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State announced in the House the boundaries for the proposed Learning and Skills Councils. Across England there will be 47 local Councils, which will operate as arms of the national Council. There will be a single local Council covering Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.
