After an initial investigation by the Office of Fair Trading, the Director General of Fair Trading referred the supply of groceries by supermarkets to the Competition Commission on 8 April.

The Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission are independent bodies. M

Representations about these inquiries received by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry have been addressed by J Sainsbury plc to the Director General of Fair Trading or the Competition Commission as appropriate.
