HL Deb 08 November 1999 vol 606 c129WA
Lord Freyberg

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are still committed to free access to all national museums and galleries in the third year of their access scheme. [HL4174]

Lord McIntosh of Haringey

Funds have been made available to permit free access for children from April this year and free access for pensioners from April 2000 to the currently charging national museums funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. We are continuing to evaluate the most effective methods of enhancing access to these institutions in 2001, but decisions will ultimately be taken by the trustees.
