HC Deb 08 November 1999 vol 337 c393W
Mr. Mackinlay

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what information his Department holds and what discussions have taken place with(a) Railtrack and (b) train operators in relation to (i) the funding of signalling on the LTS line and (ii) the punctuality and safety implications of the introduction of a new station at West Ham on this line; and if he will make a statement. [97406]

Mr. Hill

The Secretary of State has not held discussions with either Railtrack or train operators about the funding of signalling on the LTS line or the punctuality and safety implications of the new station at West Ham. The Rail Regulator has discussed a new signalling system for the LTS line with Railtrack. The Franchising Director is aware that the new station at Wet Ham has resulted in some loss of punctuality on the line. He is monitoring the situation and will be meeting the train operator within the next two weeks to discuss this matter. I am not aware of any safety implications associated with the opening of this station.
