§ Mr. TimmsThe Government aim to design the climate change levy in a way which maximises environmental effectiveness while safeguarding competitiveness. The Government have received a number of representations about the effects of the climate change levy and the rates that might apply to different sectors, which we will be considering carefully when finalising the design of the levy. The Chancellor has indicated that he intends to say more about the design of the climate change levy in the 9 November Pre-Budget Report.
