HC Deb 08 November 1999 vol 337 c435W
Mr. Boswell

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what advice he has circulated to local authorities and contractors about the relative priority in careers advice to be given to young people studying for qualifications(a) at Level 3, (b) at Level 2 and (c) at or below Foundation Level. [97486]

Mr. Wicks

Careers services are required by contract to ensure that all young people get the careers information and guidance at whatever level they study. They must do this in close partnership with schools and colleges in order to provide the right help at the right time for each individual student. The Secretary of State has asked careers services to focus their resources on those most at risk of dropping out or under-achieving, to ensure that they remain in learning after they have left school.
