To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions how much he has allocated to the improvement and to the maintenance of the A27 in Worthing for the next three financial years. [96327]

Letter from Peter Nutt to Mr. Peter Bottomley, dated 4 November 1999: The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions has asked me to reply to your question about funding for the maintenance and improvement of the A27 in Worthing over the next three financial years. The attached schedule sets out our proposals for maintenance and improvement works for the A27 through the Borough of Worthing for the next three years. Progress with these proposals will depend upon the priorities assigned to each project within the Agency's detailed business planning process. Additionally, with the Government Office for the South East, we are carrying out several studies into transport issues in the Worthing area that may identify further improvements to the A27.
