To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what is the current operational availability of each of the Royal Navy's Type 22 frigates; [96740]

(2) what is the current operational availability of each of the Royal Navy's Type 42 destroyers; [96742]

(3) what is the current operational availability of each of the Royal Navy's Type 23 frigates. [96741]

Of the Royal Navy's 32 frigates and destroyers, 27 are operationally available and the remaining five are in refit or protracted maintenance. A breakdown of their employment as at 29 October 1999 is set out in the table.
