§ Mr. Charles ClarkeThe use of police powers under section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 is kept under review and meetings have been held between Ministers, officials and representatives of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) about this issue. Revised operational guidance on the use of police powers was issued by ACPO in April this year. Powers under section 77 of the 1994 Act are exercised by local authorities.
