§ Mr. Charles ClarkeThe Department has produced no such documents. The Department's role in the area of educational materials and resources is one of advice and guidance. It remains the responsibility of school governing bodies to decide on the materials and resources they wish to use. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Employment published proposals on 13 May for consultation as part of the review of the National Curriculum on a framework for citizenship education in schools. This includes knowledge about the working of parliamentary democracy.
