To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what reports her Department has received concerning the efforts of the state Government of Rio Grande do Sul to guarantee non-genetically modified soya bean production throughout their state; and what plans his Department has to give assistance. No one from this Department has been in contact with the Brazilian delegation that met with my right hon. Friend the Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, on 13 May 1999.
