To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what estimate he has made of the number of council houses to be built in the years 1999 to 2003; and if he will make a statement. [84295]

There are no estimates of this figure. Local Authorities' plans for the period 1999–2002 will be set out in their Housing Strategies and Operational Plans, the latest versions of which are expected to be submitted by the end of May.

Following the transfer of functions, this issue will be a matter for the National Assembly.
