To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish the agenda for the ECOFIN Council of 10 May. [83817]

Ms Hewitt

The agenda for the 10 May ECOFIN, as finalised by Coreper on 6 May, listed the following substantive items for discussion:

  1. (a) the European Commission's recommendations for the 1999 Broad Economic Policy Guidelines;
  2. (b) the Presidency's draft for an European Employment Pact;
  3. (c) the Preliminary Draft Budget for the financial year 2000;
  4. (d) European Union common strategy on Russia: Economic and Financial aspects.

ECOFIN Ministers also had lunch with the Social Partners.
