HC Deb 31 March 1999 vol 328 c727W
Mr. Swayne

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how much money was spent by his Department in 1998 to discourage drinking and driving. [79390]

Mr. Hain

In 1997–98 the Welsh Office spent £33,174 on measures to discourage drinking and driving using the medium of Welsh. The Department of Environment Transport and the Regions is responsible for measures to discourage drinking and driving in Great Britain.

Following the transfer of functions, this issue will be a matter for the National Assembly.
