To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the bypass road proposed for Cwm in Blaenau Gwent. [78067]

Mr. Hain

Although regrettably we were unable to include the Cwm bypass scheme in our priority list of projects to start in the next five years, we have allocated Blaenau Gwent Borough Council £200,000 in this coming year to enable preparation work on the scheme to continue.

Following the transfer of functions, any further bid for Transport Grant support will be a matter for the National Assembly.
