Mr. Jon Owen JonesMy right hon. Friend and I have met with representatives of the farming unions in Wales on numerous occasions during the negotiations on the CAP reforms. The provisional agreement reached by the Agriculture Council represents a significant change in the direction of the CAP—a direction for which the UK Government has been strongly pressing.
The Welsh Office is currently assessing how the proposed reforms will affect farmers in Wales and we will be discussing this further with the industry in due course.
