Further to the comments by Lord McIntosh of Haringey on 17 March (H.L. Deb., cols. 792 and 793), whether they propose to legislate for the recommendations made by the committee chaired by Lord Nolan on the conduct of referendums before any further referendums are held. [HL1675]

The Government have welcomed the main findings in the report of the Committee on Standards in Public Life onThe Funding of Political Parties in the United Kingdom, and we intend to publish a draft Bill before this year's Summer Recess with a view to having controls in place by the time of the next general election.
