§ Mr. Tony LloydThe fifth committee of the United Nations is currently considering the future financing of the United Nations and should make recommendations to the General Assembly for its consideration before the end of 1999. On 16 March, the European Union Presidency64W delegate to the fifth committee again pressed European Union proposals, originally developed by the United Kingdom and France, to put United Nations finances on a more secure and equitable long-term footing.
