HC Deb 19 March 1999 vol 327 c578W
Mr. Austin

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to his answer of 9 March 1999,Official Report, column 149, on the Thames Gateway, what assessment he has made of the regeneration potential of (a) the proposed Woolwich rail tunnel, (b) a rail and (c) a rapid transit link to Thamesmead. [76769]

Mr. Caborn

The regeneration potential of new cross river public transport links were assessed within the East Thames Appraisal Framework report, commissioned by the Government Office for London, which reported in July 1998. The options considered in the report included a rail tunnel at Woolwich, and light rail and guided bus links to Thamesmead.
