§ The Prime Minister[holding answer 5 March 1999]My office has received 100,000 items of correspondence from members of the public in the last six months. Approximately 2,400 have related to food safety and biotechnology issues and, of these, approximately 100 have specifically mentioned genetically modified organisms or genetic engineering.
