§ Ms Estelle MorrisSince 1 May 1997, the Government have made available funding to establish 607 literacy summer schools, catering for over 18,000 pupils. This summer, the literacy summer schools programme will run in over 900 schools with 27,000 pupils in220W attendance. This represents nearly 5 per cent. of the overall Year 6 cohort of pupils attending primary schools in England.
