To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what are the names, qualifications and experience of the members of the Board of English Heritage; and how many of them, and which, have a disability. [74557]

The Commissioners of English Heritage are as listed, together with their qualifications and experience. None has divulged any information regarding disability.

  • Chairman: Sir Jocelyn Stevens CVO: Term of office: 1/4/97— 31/3/2000
    • Chairman of English Heritage since 1992. From 1955, background in journalism and newspaper publishing; Rector and Vice Provost of Royal College of Art 1984–92. Deputy Chairman of the Independent Television Commission 1991–96.
  • Professor Richard Morris: Term of office: 16/7/96–15/7/99
    • Director of the Council for British Archaeology since 1991; previously a lecturer in archaeology at York University.
