§ Mr. Banks[holding answer 4 March 1999]: The Sports Cabinet is chaired by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and brings together the Ministers with responsibility for Sport in the four parts of the United Kingdom and, when appropriate, others who are closely involved in the development of sport.
The Sports Cabinet last met on 26 November 1998 and is scheduled to meet next on 10 March. Officials of my Department have met their counterparts from the Home Country Departments on a number of occasions during this period and are in regular contact on a range of issues that relate to elite performance and of strategic priority for UK sport.
