Mr. Straw

As has already been made clear by the Prime Minister's Official Spokesman, the Prime Minister's office was informed about the action I was taking. The Minister of State, Home Office, my hon. Friend the Member for Brent, South (Mr. Boateng), was also informed. As I said to the House in my statement on 22 February 1999,Official Report, column 27, This was a decision that I made, and for which I am personally responsible".
