HC Deb 04 March 1999 vol 326 c862W
34. Mrs. Ann Winterton

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received from the road haulage industry on the levels of vehicle excise duty and fuel tax. [72450]

Ms Hewitt

The Government have received a number of representations from the road haulage industry about vehicle excise duty and fuel tax. Representations have been received directly from the Freight Transport Association, the Road Haulage Association and the Automobile Association. In addition Government Ministers have received letters from other Members of Parliament and from individual haulage operators.

All of the representations received will be carefully considered in the run up to the Budget on 9 March and it would be inappropriate for me to comment further at this stage.
