HC Deb 04 March 1999 vol 326 c861W
24. Ms Lawrence

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has to increase public investment over the next three years. [72437]

Mr. Milburn

The Government intend to double net public investment by 2002.

30. Mr. Laxton

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received on his plans for increasing public investment over the next three years. [72446]

Mr. Milburn

My right hon. Friend receives representations from many organisations and individuals about public investment, which is set to rise over the next three years from £4.3 billion net in 1998–99 to £10.8 billion in 2001–02. This extra investment will help reverse the decline in net wealth and deliver improved public services in health and education.
