§ Ms Armstrong[holding answer Monday 22 February 1999]: I do not intend to make any transitional arrangements. Teachers employed by grant-maintained schools who serve as councillors on the local authority to which the school becomes accountable will, therefore, be disqualified from holding office as a councillor on that authority from 1 September 1999.
