§ Mr. SpellarThis is a matter for the Chief Executive of the Defence Secondary Care Agency. I have asked the Chief Executive to write to the hon. Member.
Letter from Major General C. G. Callow to Mr. Mike Hancock, dated 4 March 1999:
I am replying to your Question to the Secretary of State for Defence about how many people are currently employed by the Defence Secondary Care Agency and what was the figure at the time of its establishment. This matter falls within my area of responsibility as Chief Executive of the DSCA.The Agency was launched on 30 April 1996, bringing together all the single Service elements of the Defence Medical Services. We do not have available a staffing total of sufficient accuracy for that day. However, our Annual Report for the year 1996/97 records the average total number of military and civilian personnel within the DSCA as 2,519.We now have a total of 2,504 personnel currently employed in the Agency.
