Mr. Paul Murphy

Responsibility for the subject in question has been delegated to the Planning Service under its Chief Executive, Mr. T. W. Stewart. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from T. W. Stewart to Mr. Malcolm Moss, dated 1 March 1999: The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the number of waste incinerators to be constructed in Northern Ireland during the next 5 years. I can confirm that the Department is currently processing 2 planning applications for waste incinerators in Northern Ireland. One of the applications is from NIGEN Plc at McCaughey Road, Belfast, within the Belfast Harbour Estate. The other is from Belfast Waste Services within the Duncrue Industrial Estate, Belfast, The Planning Service is not aware of any other proposals for waste incineration during the next 5 years. I do hope you find this information helpful.
