§ Mrs. LiddellNo separate estimates have been made for fees income for Scottish universities as requested. The table provides estimates for fees income for Scottish higher education institutions and further education colleges for the years 1998–99 to 2001–02 only:

It is assumed that most students coming to Scotland from elsewhere in the UK will attend higher education institutions. Within the figures at (I) their contribution is estimated as £2 million, £5 million, £7 million and £10 million respectively. This is estimated using the same average private contribution as for Scottish and EU students. Actual amounts will be dependent on the 701W specific funding body responsible providing student support in whatever part of the UK the student comes from.
From 1 July 1999, this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
