§ Mr. Paul MarsdenTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment for what reasons teachers who qualified in Canada receive lower pay than equivalent teachers who qualified in the United Kingdom. [88728]
§ Ms Estelle MorrisTeachers who qualified in Canada do not automatically have qualified teacher status (QTS) in England and Wales. If they work as teachers, they will be paid on the pay scale for unqualified teachers, unless they are working towards QTS through the Graduate Teacher Programme, in which case their school's governing body has the option of paying them as qualified teachers.
