HC Deb 22 June 1999 vol 333 c340W
Mr. Willis

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment when he expects to announce funding for higher education in England for year three of the Comprehensive Spending Review settlement 2001–02. [87360]

Mr. Mudie

The guidance to the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) on 8 December 1998 announced £250 million for investment in capital and research in 2001–02, and told the Council to plan on the basis that funds would be made available in that year to sustain quality and standards, and to provide for continuing growth in student numbers.

The Department will provide further details of the outcome of the Comprehensive Spending Review for 2001–02 in due course.
