To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what timetable he is proposing for the announcement of decisions on allocations in the financial year 1999–2000 from the Capital Modernisation Fund with respect to the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive submissions. [87003]

I will announce decisions on first round bids from the Capital Modernisation Fund shortly.
