HC Deb 14 June 1999 vol 333 c34W
Mr. Flight

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what plans he has for reform of the legislation which prevents transfers of protected rights from a contracted-out money purchase pension scheme; and if he will make a statement. [86308]

Mr. Timms

There is no general prohibition on transfers of protected rights from contracted-out money purchase pension schemes. The conditions under which transfers of protected rights may be made are contained in SI 1996/1461 the Protected Rights (Transfer Payment) Regulations 1996.

We have received a number of representations about these rules and will consider whether any changes are needed to this legislation.
