§ Mr. Doug Henderson[holding answer 8 June 1999]: My Department, including the Defence Secondary Care Agency, has received over 500 letters concerning the Defence Medical Services and the future of the Royal Hospital, Haslar. This figure includes letters to the Prime Minister and the Secretaries of State for Health and Transport which were passed to my Department for reply. The majority of these letters referred to the Royal Hospital, Haslar and all were opposed to its closure.
