HC Deb 09 June 1999 vol 332 c333W
Mr. Laurence Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to amend Part V of the Police Act 1997 regarding the Criminal Records Bureau; what time scale he envisages for reform; and if he will make a statement. [85904]

Mr. Boateng

The Protection of Children Bill, currently before Parliament, aims to amend Part V of the Police Act 1997 so as to permit the Criminal Records Bureau to act as a "one stop shop" for criminal record information and information contained in the Department for Education and Employment's List 99 and the Department of Health's Consultancy Index.

I have no plans for other amendments to Part V.
