HC Deb 08 June 1999 vol 332 cc227-8W
Mr. Sheerman

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what has been the cost to his Department of the inquiry into the Heathrow Fifth Terminal; and what is the estimated cost to his Department of the Inspector's preparation of his report.[86041]

Mr. Caborn

The cost of the Heathrow Terminal 5 Inquiry to the Department was approximately £6 million. In addition, the Department's agencies (Planning Inspectorate, Highways Agency and Royal Parks Agency) spent a further £5 million collectively on inquiry costs. It is estimated that the preparation of the Inspector's report could cost the Department and Planning Inspectorate combined up to £1 million.
