§ Mr. George HowarthThe Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis estimates the cost of the investigation into complaints of electoral malpractice at London borough elections in 1998 as approximately £85,000 to date. No Home Office money has been spent. The inquiry is still ongoing and is, therefore, an operational matter for the Metropolitan police.
