HC Deb 27 July 1999 vol 336 cc344-5W
Mr. Efford

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what steps he will take to prevent Thames Water from requiring domestic water customers who have received planning permission for home extensions since 1990 to have a water meter; and if he will make a statement. [93544]

Mr. Meale

I understand that, in response to pressure, Thames Water have today announced a change of policy on this issue. They will no longer impose meters in these circumstances.
