HC Deb 27 July 1999 vol 336 c293W
Mr. Pike

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what plans he has to review the procedure for determining industrial deafness; and if he will make a statement. [93206]

Mr. Bayley

We are advised on matters relating to the Industrial Injuries Benefit Scheme, which includes provision for occupational deafness, by the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council. The Council's sub-group, the Occupational Deafness Working Group is currently examining all the criteria for awarding benefit and when their work is concluded the Council will report to us. The timing of the Council's report is a matter for them.
