HC Deb 26 July 1999 vol 336 c38W
Mr. Dismore

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what steps are being taken to modernise the accident and emergency department at Northwick Park hospital; and at what cost. [92631]

Mr. Denham

Northwick Park Hospital, which forms part of The North West London Hospitals National Health Service Trust, has received two tranches of NHS modernisation funding to develop its accident and emergency facilities:

February 1999—£782,000 to provide 5 additional treatment rooms, a new x-ray machine and enable improvements to the entry areas and layout within the Department; May 1999—£630,000 to provide a six bedded resuscitation unit and ancillary accommodation.

Implementation of these improvements will help to reduce the length of time patients wait to be treated and the quality of the environment in which they are treated.
