To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many people in Scotland have(a) taken cases alleging gender discrimination to an employment tribunal and (b) had their cases upheld in the last 12 months for which figures are available and in the three previous years. [92129]

The number of people in Scotland who have taken cases alleging gender discrimination to an Employment Tribunal over the period 1 July 1998 to 30 June 1999 was 192 of which 11 were upheld. The following table provides the figures for the last three financial years.
