§ Mr. HoonWe are deeply concerned by the continuing fighting in Jammu and Kashmir, following armed infiltration across the Line of Control. We welcomed the joint statement issued by President Clinton and Prime Minister Sharif on 4 July and look forward to the early implementation of the actions proposed. We consider the dialogue initiated by Prime Ministers Vajpayee and Sharif in Lahore in February offers the best hope of resolving the long standing differences between Pakistan and India and urge its resumption.
