To ask the Prime Minister what is his present estimate of(a) military and (b) civilian deaths resulting from NATO air activity over Yugoslavia. [89736]

§ The Prime Minister
Our most recent assessment is that up to 5,000 members of the Serbian forces may have been injured or killed during the recent military action. We have no estimate of the number of civilian casualties and I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Blaenau Gwent (Mr. Smith) on 20 May 1999,Official Report, column 403.
