§ Mr. BanksThe Government are committed to attracting major sporting events to this country and supporting bids which are of genuine high quality and are economically viable. The bid to hold the 2003 World Athletics Championship is being made by the London 2003 Consortium and was given full Government support when it was presented to the IAAF in November. The IAAF will announce the result of the bidding process in April 1999.
