HC Deb 25 January 1999 vol 324 c60W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on progress in the co-operation between Flintshire County Council and the North Wales Police Authority following the enactment of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. [66420]

Mr. Jon Owen Jones

The Flintshire Community Safety Executive, consisting of a variety of agencies from the local area including Flintshire County Council and the North Wales Police Authority, has been set up in order to meet the requirements of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. The Executive which has now met on three occasions has set out a programme of work and initial targets for the completion of a crime audit and a crime and disorder reduction strategy in line with the requirements of the Act. The crime audit was produced by a team of staff from various agencies and was published in November 1998. There has been widespread consultation on the crime audit. At the latest meeting of the Executive on 18 January 1999 the partnership agreed a draft crime and disorder reduction strategy which will be the subject of discussion at a Public Consultation Meeting to be held in mid-March in Flint.
