§ Mr. Spellar[holding answer 14 January 1999]: The project to redevelop the Ministry of Defence Main Building in Whitehall is being undertaken as a Public Private Partnership scheme. The Amey/Hyder/Kvaerner consortium was appointed as the preferred bidder on 8 January 1999. The cost of the programme is commercially sensitive until final negotiations are concluded with the preferred bidder. I will provide cost information when a contract has been signed.
