Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what, under the current arrangements made by the Welsh Office for the tenancy of Crickhowell House in Cardiff, are(a) the length of the lease and its final year, (b) the current rent and the provisions for review, (c) the repairing and other responsibilities of the lease and (d) the financial liability other than the rent at the commencement or termination of the lease. (a) The Welsh Office entered into a 30 year lease starting in 1993.

(b) For reasons of commercial confidentiality, it is Government policy not to disclose information about rent levels for individual properties. There is provision for 5 yearly reviews on 29 September 2003, 29 September 2008, 29 September 2013 and 30 August 2018.

(c) It is a full repairing lease.

(d) The financial liability, other than rent, is for rates maintenance costs, and works to house the Assembly. At the termination of the lease, dilapidations and reinstatement of the building will fall due.
