Whether they will refer the cases of Merrywood and Pen Park Secondary Schools to the Social Exclusion Unit. [HL331]

Where proposals for the reorganisation, including closure, of schools fall to the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, he takes account of all educational and other factors which appear to him to be relevant in the circumstances of the case. The Department for Education and Employment is working closely with the Social Exclusion Unit on policies to promote inclusion.
