The information requested for all primary schools is collected in January but not in September. Since the most recent collection of data, in January 1998, over 100,000 infants have benefited from the Government's pledge to reduce class sizes. The figures for the current school year will be collected in January 1999, but the latest available information, for the previous year, relating to primary, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes is shown in the tables below.
